When a ferret swallows something that is not digestible, they will suffer from intestinal obstruction, meaning that the intestine is literally blocked. This is a situation that requires the services of a veterinarian, and most likely requires surgery to remove the obstruction. If the obstruction is not removed in a timely manner, the ferret will suffer, dying a slow and painful death.

You must make your home safe for the ferret, just as you would a toddler. Keep items such as nuts, erasers, sponges, sink plugs, coffee beans, ear plugs, buttons, cloth, coins and marbles out of the ferrets reach. Giving a dog a bath can be fun or it can be a terror. Puppies either love or hate the water. There is no middle ground. When giving a puppy a bath, consider two things. Do you know how and how many times a month should it be done? Bathing the animal too much will strip away essential oils needed to keep the coat shiny.

Gather all your supplies before starting. You don’t want a wet dog running behind you through the house. You will need tearless shampoo, towels, and possibly a comb if your pup is a long hair breed.

Begin bathing when the dog is young and has time to acclimate to the water. Place puppy in sink or a tub and reward him with praise for staying still. Give him a treat or scratch to reinforce good behavior.

Are you planning a trip? Are you taking your ferret along? Before you do, there are certain things that you must know. Traveling with a ferret is different than traveling with a cat or a dog.

First, if you are taking a car trip, your ferret will enjoy going, but he will have pent up energy that he needs to burn. Make sure that you bring along a harness and leash, and that you plan frequent stops for your ferret to stretch his legs. Make sure that you bring along a small traveling cage (you won’t want him loose in the car), food, water, and a small litter box as well.

If you are traveling by air, note that not all airlines will transport a ferret, and your pet ferret may not be welcomed in all countries. In fact, even in the United States, there are laws against the possession of ferrets in some cities - even if you are just visiting. Make sure that you call the game and fish department of your destination city to be sure that your ferret is welcome.

Just a couple of weeks, my wife casually mentioned to me that we have not gone for a vacation for quite some time. Reflecting back, I started feeling guilty as I have promised her a vacation every year ever since we got married. However, family commitments and the demands of our jobs have kept us so busy that I was not able to fulfill my promise to her for the last few years.

We started discussing on the various countries that we would like to go to. I have always want to go to England to visit my favorite soccer club but it seems my wife seem to have other ideas. She was looking for something more exotic and eastern, we shortlist our vacation destination to three countries, namely Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan.

We then start visiting sites and forums on travelling to get feedbacks and ideas from fellow travelers. One of the few sites that we useful for information on our travel destination are Wikipedia and Travel Channel and as for booking of air tickets Zuji is the site to go to.

I’m actually surprised that I can find a wealth of information on travel locations over at Wikipedia. In the past, I always viewed Wikipedia as some sort of online encyclopedia on general stuff, not the sort of useful and user edited information. Now, I see Wikipedia in a different light as compared in the past.

Another site worthy of mentioned is HotelsCombined. Over at HotelsCombined, I can compare and find the best the rates of different hotels from over 30 sites at once. HotelsCombined is incredibly time saving for people like me who cannot afford the time to check out 30 over sites for the best hotel rates.

And just yesterday, my wife told me she has decided on Hong Kong and she is now pulling ahead with the planning and preparation for the trip. Guess I just have to sit back and enjoy the vacation. But before that, what I need to do is just to find someone to look after my pet fishes and dog when we are enjoying ourselves over at Hong Kong in about a month’s time.

There is a distinction besides feathers, though. Birds are endotherms, meaning they must have food for energy to keep warm. Other reptiles are ecotherms which need an outside heat source to help them retain proper body temperature.

Intestinal obstruction is the number one cause of deaths among ferrets. Unfortunately, it is a slow and painful death for the ferret if you don’t realize that there is a problem and seek treatment from the vet. Items that the ferret may want to chew are also a danger, because small pieces can come off and be swallowed. Ferrets are especially fond of rubber items, like sink stoppers. A ferret is most likely suffering from intestinal obstruction if he is lethargic, vomiting, has problems having a bowel movement, or refuses to eat or drink. He can die very quickly from this.

Many people who are not knowledgeable about the breed simply cannot tell one Yorkshire Terrier apart from another Yorkshire Terrier of the same age and size, with the same haircut. Did you think a frog is a reptile? Maybe it would help to learn the difference in reptiles and amphibians. Amphibians can’t travel far from a water source because their skin would dry out. Snakes are well-known and feared reptiles. Many people simply misunderstand the snake. It’s a benefit to the balance of nature. They consume rodents, amphibians, and insects as well as providing a source of food to other animals. They’re valuable additions to our animal world because of the importance as predators and as prey.

Many people kill snakes without knowing whether or not they are dangerous. Some snakes are “good” snakes in the way that they kill the bad snakes. Those annoying mice are controlled because of the snake population, too. But before you decide that you’d rather have a bigger mouse population than snakes, you would surely agree that everything was created for a reason. Just because you may be scared of something does not mean it is less important to our world.
