I like how cost-conscious this article was because being cost conscious is a very important factor in keeping a reptile and animals in general. I think its interesting how you said corn snakes live in aquariums. Because aquariums are those filled with water. Corn snakes don't live in those. And I somewhat disagree with reptile carpet being so easy to clean because I don't think it is. It always ends up giving a weird odor after washes.
As for lighing, you recommend clamp lamps. I don't know if you were talking about uvb, because it wasn't very specific. If you are, then I'd recommend long tube uvb bulbs over those. They spread out the uvb more, which in the end is healthier. There are lots of good bulbs out there. For the time being I only have bearded dragons (7 to be exact). Some are on 10.0, two are on mega rays, and the rest are on zilla desert 50. I like the deserts and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome after the fact that they were part of the uvguide study. I'd recommend any of these.

Snakes make awesome pets though in the truest sense of the word I'm not sure that the term "pet" is appropriate. In fact if you're thinking in terms of a "pet" get a cat or dog or even a lizard is going to be more interactive and engaged than most snakes.

Either way they truly are one of Gods more amazing creatures.
